Why do I have pimples?

The appearance of a pimple is often linked to an overproduction of sebum. This oily substance is produced by glands located in the dermis and is discharged onto the skin's surface through small excretory ducts. Sebum production is controlled by hormones, notably testosterone, which can increase up to fivefold during puberty. This explains why the skin becomes oilier and why pimples are common during this period. In the case of acne, sebum is secreted in excess and becomes thick, clogging pores and promoting the multiplication of bacteria such as Propionibacterium acnes, leading to the appearance of acne lesions.

Papule, pustule, blackhead, whitehead, what's the difference?

Blackheads, or open comedones, occur when pores become blocked by the accumulation of dead cells and bacteria. They turn black because sebum oxidizes upon contact with air. Red bumps, or papules, result from the infection of blackheads or ingrown hairs. Inflamed, they become red and swollen, sometimes forming balls under the skin. Whiteheads, or pustules, result from the inflammation of red bumps. They contain pus produced by white blood cells to fight off microbes.

I have a lot of pimples, what should I do?

If you find yourself with a breakout of pimples on your face, you need to understand where it's coming from. Ask yourself a few questions:

Is it related to puberty? During this period, the body produces a lot of hormones like testosterone, which can stimulate sebum secretion. This can make the skin oily and shiny, especially in the T-zone of the face. Make sure to also maintain a healthy lifestyle. Are you eating healthily? Do you exercise regularly? Do you use non-comedogenic cosmetics? Do you regularly change your sheets and pillowcases? Do you frequently disinfect your phone? There are many factors to consider before identifying the most suitable skincare protocol for you.

My skin is oily, what should I do?

If your skin is oily, avoid harsh products that can further stimulate sebum production. Opt for particularly gentle cleansers. Our Ultra-Gentle Facial Cleanser, for example, is 100% natural, soap-free, and respects the skin's pH. Then, moisturize your skin with lightweight textures like gels or creams. Our Ultra Fresh Face Gel 75ml is perfect for oily skin, leaving a feeling of freshness and containing Urban Shield® to protect the skin from external aggressors.

I want to grow my beard, how do I do it?

Want a full beard? Start by taking care of your skin by exfoliating to stimulate blood circulation and promote hair growth. Then apply special beard oils, like our 5-in-1 Beard Oil, and massage your beard for at least 5 minutes a day.

If you want to have a nice beard, even when it's still growing, it's important to trim it regularly. This allows you to look good at all lengths. An unkempt beard that grows haphazardly may not be the best ambassador for your new look.
